ODU Disposable Connectors
In today's medical world it is often desirable to have one side of the connection as a one-time-use connector. This could be the plug or receptacle. ODU has developed the MINI-SNAP PC with that requirement in mind.
The simplest disposable part of the connection could be the receptacle. Shown on the left are the three basic parts. They are the housing, the insulator, and a hexnut to mount the receptacle.
The contacts are inexpensive stamped-and-formed crimp contacts, which can be terminated on an automated stripping and crimping machine. The entire receptacle could be provided at a very low cost, allowing for a one-time use.
It is also possible to make the plug disposable and keep the cost down by using stamped-and-formed contacts
Most disposable connetors are custom devices which need to fit into a surgical handpiece or similar medical device.
